CM Yogi raises questions on Akhilesh’s Promise

UP elections are now being fought over election promises and gifts. Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav has announced to provide 300 units of free electricity. The head of state, Yogi Adityanath, also retaliated.

When Akhilesh Yadav switched to the promise of free electricity in his election campaign, the effect was also felt in the BJP camp. Yogi, who was holding a meeting in Rampur, gave Akhilesh a counter-current.

Yogi is betting on his government to maintain full power for the first hours and 24 hours, while opposition parties are preparing to deal a heavy blow to the Yogi government by raising the issue of cheap and free electricity. If a government is formed in the state, the Aam Aadmi Party has announced to provide 300 units of electricity free of cost. In such a situation, SPs have also come down on the issue of free and cheap electricity.

The government is already subsidizing Rs 11,000 crore, now promising to provide up to 300 units of free electricity to farmers and general consumers. For this, the government will have to provide additional Rs 24,000 crore. That means a total subsidy of Rs 35,000 crore has to be arranged, but where there is a competition to win elections, there is no logic.
