Karan Johar hosting the Grand Trailer Launch of KGF2 staring Yash-Sanjay Dutt!

Prashanth Neel’s K.G.F: Chapter 2 is an upcoming Indian Kannada language period action film written and directed by Prashanth Neel and produced by Vijay Kiragandur under the name Hombale Films. The second installment of the two-part series follows on from the 2018 film K.G.F: Chapter 1. Yash, Sanjay Dutt, Srinidhi Shetty, RaveenaTandon, and Prakash Raj feature in the film.

As KGF 2 prepares for a mammoth theatrical release on April 14, 2022, the film’s producers have chosen to go all out with the promotion, hosting the largest trailer unveiling event on March 27 in Bengaluru. It is expected to be a visual spectacular including the whole cast and crew, as well as industry heavyweights. Along with that, one of India’s greatest and most successful directors, Karan Johar, will be presenting the major trailer debut. That is correct! One can only imagine how fantastic the KGF 2 trailer unveiling will be.

Adding to the excitement, the filmmaker Karan Johar has agreed to organize the trailer premiere event for the film, which is set to take place this week in Bengaluru. Chapter 1 smashed Indian film records and expectations with its explosive blend of absorbing plot, mind-bending action sequences, catchy soundtrack, and top-notch acting. With the addition of Yash, Sanjay Dutt, and RaveenaTandon to its diverse roster, Chapter 2 is likely to break prior records.

KGF: Chapter 2 will be released in Kannada, Telugu, Hindi, Tamil, and Malayalam on April 14, 2022, and is written and directed by Prashanth Neel, one of the most sought-after directors, and produced by Vijay Kiragandur under the Hombale Films brand. Homebase Films, an expanding pan-India production firm, plans to present some of the biggest films in Indian cinema over the next two years, including the much-anticipated ‘Salaar,’ starring Prabhas.

The professionals from the previous film were retained for Neel, with BhuvanGowda handling cinematography and Ravi Basrur creating music for the soundtrack and the film’s backdrop. The film will be released in Kannada theatres on April 14, 2022, alongside dubbed versions in Telugu, Hindi, Tamil, and Malayalam.

Premise

After defeating Garuda, Rocky, whose name frightens his opponents, becomes the uplifter of individuals struggling at the KGF by assisting and fighting for them. Rocky is revered by his allies as their savior. Now he must confront his greatest nemesis, Adheera, and discover more about his background.

Production\Development

After the release of Ugramm (2014), Prashanth Neel worked on the screenplay for the film, and production began in early 2015.

However, because the narrative of this story is in a non-linear structure, he opted to break the film into two parts, and the choice to split the film into two parts also had to do with financial possibilities. In an October 2018 interview with The Times of India, he explained, “The magnitude of the project is immense, and we had a scope for a beginning, an interval, and a conclusion for both sections, so it made sense for us to release it as two parts.” He thinks the choice to make it bilingual was made since the film was so good.

Prashanth Neel affirmed in December 2020 that there will be no third installment in the KGF franchise. Prashanth Neel opted to enlist composer Ravi Basrur and cinematographer BhuvanGowda as members of the technical staff for the film’s second installment.

Casting

While Yash and Srinidhi Shetty have returned to reprise their roles, Sanjay Dutt was cast in a key role in February 2019. RaveenaTandon’s involvement in the film was first rumored in the media in February 2019. Tandon will have a “big part” in the film, according to a report in The Times of India.

Despite becoming a big sensation following the release of the predecessor, Srinidhi turned down seven projects to begin filming for the sequel. In April 2019, the producers held an audition for aspiring actors who wish to be a part of the film’s cast.

On July 29, 2019, it was confirmed that Sanjay Dutt would be playing the major antagonist Adheera, making his Kannada debut. He likened his persona to Thanos, revealing that it was “presented to be a menacing character with terrifying makeup” and that it was a part he wanted. RaveenaTandon was said to play Prime Minister Ramika Sen, and she said that “it was a challenging persona to portray.” Rao Ramesh, a Telugu actor, was cast in a major role in May 2019, while Tamil actor Saran Shakthi was cast in August 2019. When production commenced on August 26, 2020, Prakash Raj was revealed to be playing a crucial part.

Filming

Before the release of its predecessor in December 2018, the filmmakers shot 20% of the sequel, and the team worked double shifts until January 2019. On January 4, it was stated that they had finished 15% of the filming and expected to start production in the summer of 2019. K.G.F: Chapter 2 filming began on March 13, 2019, in Hyderabad, with a ceremonial puja ceremony. Following a first phase of filming near Bangalore in May 2019, Yash revealed that he will only join the sets in June 2019. The film’s production began on June 4 at the LalitaMahal Palace in Mysore, with Yash joining the crew on June 6. Later, in August 2019, the shoot began near Cyanide Hills in the Kolar Gold Fields.

On August 28, 2019, N Srinivas, president of the KGF’s National Citizens Party, filed a petition against the directors, alleging that the film is being made in a protected area of cyanide mound and is causing environmental damage. The JMFC Court has issued an injunction notice to producer Kiragandur, halting the shoot. On September 4, the producers stated that the stay order was granted a day before the filming schedule was to be completed. On the same day, the filmmakers began filming for the second schedule in Hyderabad. Sanjay Dutt arrived on the set of the film in Hyderabad on September 25, 2019. After gaining a court stay order on September 27, the filmmakers went to Cyanide Hills to finish the film.
